Getting started - Who can Praticipate in MAHAL 2000

The criteria for becoming Israeli volunteers coming from overseas are listed below:
Citizenship

|
A child of Israeli emigrants who was born overseas and one of whose parents has Israeli citizenship. |
|
|
A person born in Israel who left it before the age of 10 incl., and returned after the age of 18. |
Age at draft
|
|
Men: 18-24. |
|
|
Women: 18-21. |
|
|
Drafting up to a month younger than 18 is possible. |
|
|
Drafting certified medical doctors with the proper recommendations only, is up to the age of 35. |
Staying in Israel
|
|
Staying in Israel up to 4 consecutive months after the age of 10 allows you to join the MAHAL track. |
|
|
Studies in Israel for a Bachelor's degree (including the preparatory courses and the standardized period for the specific degree) are possible without compulsory draft, as long as the student leaves Israel before December of the year in which he completed his studies.

|
Length of service after finishing studies for the Bachelor’s degree is determined based on the age at the time of arriving in Israel and the family status on the day of the draft. |

|
In case of staying more than 4 consecutive months in Israel the length of the service will be determined based on the age at the time of arriving in Israel |
|
|
Service in the MAHAL track is conditioned on declaring that you do not intend to relocate to Israel or stay here permanently after the service. |
|
|
In case of staying in Israel up to one year accumulatively during several visits it is possible to join the MAHAL track. |
|
|
At the end of this year you must leave Israel, otherwise you will be drafted to service, the length of which will be determined based on your age at the time of arriving in Israel.
